CSIS (Duty Office) Support

Reporting Problems

In the first instance, please check both our local user community site called QandA and the general IT services Knowledge Base where you will find answers to some of your questions.

For problems not contained in either of the above two sites, please enter them into the Action Request System (ARS).

To complete the steps above you will need to use your campus username. Campus usernames are roughly in the form MBAX0AAA. You will have set your password initially during the account setup process. Details of how to find out your username and reset your password are also on the above page.

If you don't have access to the web, then you can phone directly on extension 65544 or visiting in person in the John Rylands Library on Oxford Road at the top of the escalator in the Blue 1 area. Further details on this can be found on the IT Services web site.

You'll be given a reference number for any problems reported.

Questions?

We ask that you direct queries to the student QandA website in the first instance. This way, we can optimise our time to maintain the schools IT systems to the highest possible standards.

Should you still have questions after making use of the above help, the CSIS (Duty Office) email address is still available should it be necessary as a last resort. Any issues which should have been directed elsewhere in the first instance will be dealt with as a very low priority. Evidence of using these other support paths maybe necessary before any further assistance will be given.

The IS team on site have historically been known as Duty Office. This will change over the coming months to Computer Science - Information Systems (CSIS) however you will still find references throughout this site to the name Duty Office.

Here's our guide to what the CSIS (Duty Office) does and how it usually operates.

How do I...? Where is...? What command does...?

Take a look at our Site Guide for an overview of our hardware, software and policies regarding use of our computing facilities.
